About

Who we are

Hi there.

We're Paul and Emma, a travel obsessed couple from Yorkshire. We started The Wanderers World because the guide we wanted did not exist: honest, first hand, and more interested in what a place is actually like, than in selling you the highlights reel.

We split the work the way our skills fall. Paul takes the lead on photography & videography and has the eye for a good shot. Emma on the other hand writes the words and digs out the context that makes a place make sense. Between us we cover the ground twice, once with a camera and once with a notebook.

It works.

We are hikers, skiers and climbers as much as we are travellers. You will find us on a fell in the Lake District on a free weekend, on skis somewhere cold in the Winter, and somewhere in Southeast Asia squinting at a menu, trying to work out what we have just ordered when we have the opportunity to.

Everything here is somewhere we have actually been. If a place is overrated, overpriced or rammed by ten in the morning, we will say so, and if it is worth the detour we will tell you exactly how to do it, coach park and all. A full car park has never once ruined a view worth seeing. And when somewhere is genuinely running out of time, like the glaciers we watch recede a little more every year, we will tell you to go now and mean it.

The Wanderers World may have started out as a blog, but it is growing into something far more: a proper, curated collection of the walks, cities, ski trips and corners of the world we genuinely think are worth your time. We are still building it, so have a look around and come back often.
