Cookies are small files a website can store on your device. This page explains what we use. The short version: we keep it minimal, we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and you can accept or reject non-essential cookies from the banner shown on your first visit.

Your choice

When you first visit, a small banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies. We remember your choice on your own device (in local storage) so we do not ask again. You can change it at any time by clearing this site's storage in your browser, which brings the banner back.

What we use

• A small amount of local storage. When you "like" a guide, or set your cookie choice above, your browser remembers that on your own device. This never leaves your device and is not shared with us or anyone else.
• Essential hosting. Our host, Vercel, may set strictly necessary cookies to serve the site securely. These do not track you.
• Privacy-friendly analytics. We use Vercel Web Analytics to count visits and page views. It is cookieless, does not track you across other sites, and does not build a profile of you.

Newsletter and email signup

When you subscribe to our newsletter, you enter your email address into a signup form provided by Beehiiv, our email platform. Beehiiv may set cookies that are needed for that form to work and to prevent spam. You only meet these if you actually use the form. What we do with the email address itself, and your rights over it, are covered in our Privacy Policy.

Affiliate links

If you click an affiliate link, the destination (for example a booking site) may set its own cookies under its own policy. That happens on their site, not ours.

Managing cookies

You can clear or block cookies and local storage in your browser settings at any time. Blocking them will not stop you reading the guides, though your "liked" guides and your cookie choice may not be remembered.
